Samaritans support in Reading
During the pandemic, Samaritans found themselves to be a critical service, dealing with rising instances of isolation, domestic abuse, and financial worries.
They pride themselves in taking action to prevent people reaching crisis point.
Funding ensured Reading Samaritans were able to cover all running costs required for the building, for volunteers, and for insurance during a traditionally busy month. This meant they could continue to provide emotional support to those who needed it.
Reading Samaritans take approximately 25,000 contacts during a year with about 90 active volunteers.
